M&GN Bridge 254

from £140.00

A limited edition model of M&GN railway bridge 254 at Drayton, Norfolk on the former Lynn and Fakenham railway branch from Norwich to Melton Constable.

Based on original drawings kindly provided by the Norfolk County Council, measurements we took ourselves and photographs, we have produced a replica of this iconic structure.

The bridge was closed in the early 1970’s and the track was lifted around 1973. You can still walk or cycle over the bridge as part of the 26-mile Marriott’s Way path.

The model itself is braced with optional internal 2.5mm steel supports, and our load tests suggest it is more than capable of supporting Heljan Diesels!

The span of the bridge is 500mm between abutments and 122mm wide.

The abutments are made from 50mm tall modular and stackable sections, allowing you to place the bridge at the required height.

Prices start at £140 for:

  • All of the bridge components

  • 2 x abutments - each made up from 2 × 50mm base sections and a top landing section. These hold the top side of the deck ~115mm high from the floor.

  • A replica “254” Bridge Plate (the original can be seen at Bressingham Steam Museum).

  • Your choice of deck style - 1) Roadbed style (as on our pictured prototype model) where you assemble your own C and L chairs on the moulded waybeams. 2) or a plain flat deck for whatever track system you use – e.g. Streamline or coarse scale track.

  • The deck can be purchased in Brown, Light Grey or Blue Grey

For an additional £15, we will include the 2.5mm steel rods to reinforce the structure. If you wish to purchase these separately, we will send you the details on what you need to buy.

Please note that this unique model is made to order - delivery time may be several weeks. Please email us before purchasing if you would like an estimate, or we will contact you following purchase with an estimated lead time.

Please do email us at “enquiries@atkitz.co.uk” if you have any questions or would like some information on the build process.
